I have recently been diagnosed with diabetes. I am male and aged 42. I am able to control my diabetes by diet only. My blood sugar levels
rarely go above 8. There is however a serious side effect to this diabetes. Back in December I broke a bone in my right foot, a straight forward Jones fracture of the 5th metatarsel of the right foot. After many x rays and many weeks of being in plaster the bone has still not healed. One of the specialists who has examined me thinks that because I felt no pain when I broke my foot and the bone broke without any serious trauma happening to it, they think I have Charcot’s Arthropathy of the foot (diabetic foot). I have read many articles on the internet regarding this condidtion and they say the condition is very serious. I would like to ask if any members of this group suffer from this condition and what treatment they received and what was the outcome of this condition. At the moment my life has been put on hold. I am not allowed to walk on my foot, I cannot work or drive, all I seem to be doing is hanging around waiting for various consultants to arrange scans etc. Its been 2 months since I last saw a specialist and he hasnt even written a letter to my GP explaining what is going on.I am constantly phoning his secretary and she keeps saying that she will keep on at him to do the letter. I am worried that the longer this takes the worse the condition is going to get.

 He was diagnoised w/type1 at age5. Just recently we have started having severe behavioral problems with him. He has know been diagnosed with ADHA too. Just recently he has became very shy, keep to himself, says he has no friends and the ones that claim to be his friends make fun of him when adults are not around. I know this has to be difficult, but he has now turned on me too. I can do nothing right, but he knows he can depend on me for insulin ect. Is this normal ??

I have had diabetic neuropathy in both feet and legs for a few years now. Mine was caused by mis-diagnosis of diabetes type years ago and subsequent treatment If it helps at all, my symptoms are loss of feeling in my feet, not feeling hot or cold but plenty of pain
due to nerve damage. My legs have a constant feeling of pins and needles which feel like they are burning all the time. Anything touching my legs is extremely painful. There are some different symptoms of neuropathy but these are the ones I managed to get saddled with. I walk using 2 elbow crutches and sometimes I have to use a wheelchair.
I also cannot drive due to the loss of feeling in my feet. The DVLA were very quick taking my driving licence off me but I have been told I can get a car adapted so I don’t need to use my feet at all. I don’t feel very confident driving like this so I rely on taxi’s now.

Hello all!

I stopped taking metformin 3 days ago and my sugar is still low. I’m wondering if it wasn’t the gall bladder causing all the problems to start with.

I have just been approved for Medicare and needto find a Dr. in my area.But there are several different specialties and I don’t know what
would be right for my health problems. I currently see a PA at a free clinic and want to change to a real Dr. I am diabetic and have high blood pressure. Also starting to have problems with my feet and vision.

Any info anyone has would be welcome, also any help with this Medicare mess would be great.

We have a Jersey and the quantity of raw cream I now eat is a lot.

Hello everyone my name is Jim and I’m new to this group. I have had
type 1 diabetes for 22 years now. Over the past few years Ive been
suffering from severe weight loss (28 lbs) as well as skin disorders. I
am now suffering from body and face acne as an adult and what appears
to be excema on my calves. Does anybody have any idea if this is
diabetes related or has anyone else here suffered from these issues? I
am a bartender & restaurant manager and Im thinking that the
inconsistencies in my work, eating and sleeping schedule have greatly
affected my blood sugars. I have no insurance unfortunately so my
doctor visits are very limited. Any information and/or advice would be
much appreciated.

I am newly diagnosed type 2 and picked up a copy of a diabetic
magazine. I was very surprised, and confused, when a breakfast meal
plan suggested that ‘baked apple oatmeal’, which has 74 grams of
carbohydrates, was a good choice. I don’t think I would feel very well
if that is how I started my day and I’m certain my post-breakfast
testing would confirm that. I would appreciate any input.

I am new to this board and just wanted to know if cleanses are safe for
diabetics? I was always worried the fact that cleanses put an added
strain on your liver and kidneys might have a counter productive
reaction. Many cleanses I see in stores have warnings for diabetics as
well. What cleanses are best/ safest for diabetics?
